Currently my classes are offered at the Artists Workshop Studios on 540 Barracuda Blvd in New Smyrna Beach. They are scheduled as 6-week sessions of 3 hours weekly. Oil Painting for Beginners
If you are new to painting in oils, this is your class! You should be familiar with drawing, handling of brushes and the basics of color mixing.
Here is what we'll cover:
Overview and review of materials
Hands-on value scale in grey
Hands-on color charts
Hands-on exploration of the 2 different approaches: Grisaille underpainting with layers, and Alla Prima
Importance of gesso
Hands-on transferring of reference photos/grid system
Demo on how to start a painting.
The last 2 sessions of the 6 total are dedicated to the students applying the new knowledge to a full-fledged painting under individual guidance and gently critiques.
